Show Your Work - 4

I took a jump and made several notes. I think this will work okay, but I think it'll take a few links to figure out of my structure will work. I wish I was more confident about this, but hopefully with some practice a flow will emerge. It is helpful to add TK (to come) notes into my structure. I haven't figured out a way to avoid using some sort of foundational note to build. For instance, if I'm building notes about ways to extend willpower, it helps immensely to make a topic card to describe willpower, but in doing so I'd also like a source to provide a definition. I think the problem over time will go away once I've developed a few topic trees to build.

As such I've added quite a number of stubs for sources that I need to fill out notes, but that will happen in time I guess. I find that both exciting and daunting to do. I have found that taking notes has been a net gain so far. While it definately slows me down in reading, I've used my notes already on several occassions. Once I've filled out a bit more information on those sources, I'll start building up the sources index page so things feel a bit more fleshed out.

I finished up Show Your Work. My expectations were about on point. I like the energy and perspective of Austin Kleon's books, but it wasn't going to be thick with references that was going to give me fodder for my notes. I do feel like at some point I should start posting when I make big updates to the blog somewhere on social media. I may experiment with that in the coming weeks, but for now I'm just going to worry about trying to make progress on the site most days.

My next book I'm going to work on is a little different in content. The end of last year was a struggle, so I think I'm going to do a little research into meditation. So I started to dig into a book named Bliss Brain: The Neuroscience of Remodeling Your Brain for Resilience, Creativity, and Joy by Dawson Church. I'm not familiar with his work- this was a bit of an impulse buy, but it ticks several of the terms of interest. My hope is that I come away with some strategies on stress management and maybe learn some things to make me more resilient.
